A Life Past Trauma (An online course that explores the foundations of my full recovery from PTSD and teaches some of the techniques I used to help reset my nervous system)
I’m Ted Shirley, the author of “Trauma On The Front Line And Beyond” A book about my time with PTSD, but more importantly how I managed to fully recover from it.
I’ve created an online course to try and help people who are in my former shoes.
A calm, trauma-informed programme for building steadiness after difficult experiences called “A Life Past Trauma”.
Some experiences don’t stay in the past.
They show up in the body, in relationships, in how safe or unsafe our life feels — even years later.
This programme isn’t about reliving what happened.
It’s about learning how to live with it — without being controlled by it.
Who This Is For
This programme is for you if:
• You feel stuck in survival mode — tense, numb, on edge, or exhausted
• You’ve tried “talking it through” but your body still reacts
• You want understanding and tools, not motivation or hype
• You value calm, clarity, and going at your own pace.
You don’t need to share your story.
You don’t need to be “ready to heal.”
What This Programme Offers
This is a guided, educational programme focused on:
• Understanding trauma without reliving it
• Learning how the nervous system actually works
• Building grounding and regulation skills
• Reducing shame around reactions and triggers
• Developing steadiness in relationships and daily life.
The focus is recovery and stability, not fixing or forcing change.
How It Works
• 8 core modules + orientation
• Short, calm video lessons (3-5 minutes)
• Optional reflections and grounding practices
• Private Skool community (quiet participation welcome)
Everything is self-paced.
You can pause, repeat, or skip anything.
What This Is Not
• Not therapy
• Not crisis support
• Not a quick fix
• Not a place for graphic trauma sharing.
If you need one-to-one or clinical support, this programme can sit alongside that — not replace it.
Why This Is Different
Most trauma content focuses on:
• The story
• The diagnosis
• Or pushing people to “move on”
This programme focuses on:
• The nervous system
• Safety first
• Understanding without exposure
• Living well with what happened.
It’s built for people who are tired of forcing themselves forward.
What You’ll Walk Away With
Not a new identity.
Not a perfect future.
But:
• Less self-blame
• Faster recovery after triggers
• Clearer boundaries
• A steadier internal baseline
• Tools you can return to long-term.
